These things have put a smile on my face this month.
Covergirl Oh Sugar! Lip Balm
I’m not a big makeup girl. I actually prefer to go au natural for the most part. But, lately, I’ve been loving the Oh Sugar! lip balm by Covergirl. I picked up the shade Cupcake one day when I got distracted at Target (it happens), and have been wearing it pretty much every day since. Oh Sugar! lip balm provides a slight moisturizing tint. The lip balm goes on super smooth and makes my lips feel soft and oh-so-happy. Cupcake is a super soft, barely there pink. The color is so slight I can wear it with or without other makeup, whether I’m rocking real clothes or just my pjs. In fact, I liked it so much I’ve already purchased a second tube! And for a slightly darker shade, I picked up Taffy. Taffy is a little more noticeable with my fair complexion, but still subtle enough to wear with anything.
BlenderBottle Glass Shaker
Anyone else a water bottle collector? I have been drinking a Vega shake pretty much every workday. I usually use the plastic BlenderBottles and pre-fill them with coconut milk for the week, then just add the powder the day-of. They work great, except…by the time I get home from a long shift at work, the remnants in my plastic BlenderBottle tend to smell a little funky. Heaven help me if I forget about the bottle and leave it in my car for the duration of a second shift! It takes a few washes and a few days of airing out to get the smell of day+ old nutrition shake and coconut milk out of the plastic. I found this glass BlenderBottle in Target and thought it would be a good fix for the post-shake stink. I used it for a Vega shake immediately and it was all I hoped it would be. I like it for a blender, but it turns out, I like it just as much for a regular water bottle! I prefer to drink out of glass over plastic anyway. The glass obviously adds some weight to the bottle, but it is solid and durable. Easy to fill and even easier to clean, I’m quite happy I’ve added this BlenderBottle to my collection. They’re a little on the pricey side for a water/shaker bottle, in my opinion, so I’m not quite ready to switch all of my plastic shakers for glass ones just yet, but if I see them marked down or at Marshalls (where I got all of the plastic ones), I will be snatching them up!
I’ve heard of Stroopwafels before but haven’t had one until now. I found a few flavor options at Marshalls and decided to try the chocolate-caramel waffles. As a coffee fiend, anything that goes along with my cup of joe is good with me! These sweet treats make my morning coffee a little more fun. I just put one on top of my cup of coffee and let the warmth of the coffee soften the waffle. I have found not all of my coffee mugs are suitable (i.e.: they’re too big) for Stroopwafels. And, I’m not always patient enough to let them warm up all the way. But, when I do, they’re quite tasty! I haven’t eaten them straight from the package yet, though I’d venture to say they’re pretty good that way, too.
*Sidenote: If you walk away from your coffee for too long while you’re warming your Stroopwafel, it will fall into your cup!
DW Home candles
I’ve slowly been collecting DW candles, picking up a new scent almost every time I go to Marshalls. What I love about these candles, aside from the subtly strong fragrance that permeates throughout my home when I burn one, is that they often come in containers that are aesthetically pleasing and can be reused once the candle is gone. The first candle that hooked me was a sea salt and kelp scented wooden wick candle. I’ve been unable to find that scent again at my local Marshalls but, having all the fall feelings now, I did get a warm cinnamon and vanilla scented DW candle on my last trip.
John Butler Trio – Ocean
I could listen to it on repeat all day long. John Butler is crazy talented. It’s a long song/video, but watch it anyway and be amazed.
